"The background of this research is the need for further development of the\r\nbook \"Mengenal Ilmu Balaghah\" by Kyai Emuh Muhaemin due to its limitations in\r\nthe form of dictation and its teaching method, which is restricted to lectures. Another\r\nreason is that the contextual approach usually used in teaching is not documented and\r\nrelies solely on transmission through learning activities. Another challenge to the\r\nintegrity of learning through the book is that Islamic boarding schools must adapt to\r\nthe conditions of students who attend school, which affects the allocation of time,\r\nteaching methods, and learning targets. The development of previous teaching\r\nmaterials in the form of a textbook with a contrastive adabi approach is considered\r\nsuitable, even necessary to overcome the problems that form the background of this\r\nresearch. Therefore, this research aims to: 1) Develop the book Mengenal Ilmu\r\nBalaghah based on the contrastive adabi approach. 2) Determine the effect of the\r\nbook development on students' understanding of balaghah at Ponpes Sukahideng.\r\nThis research falls under the Research and Development (R&D) approach. The\r\ndevelopment procedure chosen is the ADDIE model. To determine the effectiveness\r\nof the developed product, the researcher conducted a quasi-experiment with a onegroup\r\npretest-posttest design. The subjects used in the study were third-level students\r\nat Ponpes Sukahideng. Data were collected through interviews, observations,\r\nquestionnaires, tests, and documentation. Test data were then analyzed using the\r\nWilcoxon test with the help of IBM SPSS 27.\r\nThe results of this study are: 1) A textbook product with a contrastive adabi\r\napproach named \"Edelweis Bayan\". This book develops the bayan material from the\r\ndictation \"Mengenal Ilmu Balaghah\". In general, the presentation of this book is by\r\ncomparing two literary texts from two contrasted languages, namely Indonesian and\r\nArabic, along with images and presentations that encourage literary appreciation. 2)\r\nAfter being tested by material and media experts, with an average total of 91% and\r\n93.56% in the \"very feasible\" category, the product was then tested. The results show\r\nthat this research is in accordance with the hypothesis: \"The use of the developed\r\nMengenal Ilmu Balaghah textbook based on the contrastive adabi approach affects\r\nstudents' understanding of balaghah and literary appreciation.\" The hypothesis was\r\nfound through the Wilcoxon test with a value of 0.000 on the cognitive test and 0.003\r\non the affective test. Edelweiss bayan increased scores in both aspects, but it was\r\nmore effective in providing understanding than increasing literary appreciation.
