Academic grades, interest preferences, and aptitude test results are often uncertain or incomplete, leading to difficulties in decision-making. The fuzzy logic method is capable of handling data ambiguity, while Dempster–Shafer theory can manage incomplete evidence. However, each has limitations when used independently. Therefore, this study develops a decision support system (DSS) based on the integration of fuzzy logic and Dempster–Shafer theory to assist students in determining their study specialization more accurately and objectively. This research applies a system engineering approach using the Waterfall model to design and implement the specialization recommendation system. The study subjects are 32 fourth-semester students of the Informatics Engineering Program at Nahdlatul Ulama Sunan Giri University. The data used include academic grades, interest preferences, and aptitude test results. The fuzzy process is employed to convert numerical and linguistic data into membership degrees, while the Dempster–Shafer method processes the fuzzy outputs into belief and plausibility values for each available specialization option. The results show that the integration of fuzzy logic and Dempster–Shafer theory can be effectively implemented in the specialization decision support system. Fuzzy logic plays an important role in representing academic and interest data in a more interpretable linguistic form, while Dempster–Shafer theory effectively combines the fuzzy results to produce proportional belief values for each specialization alternative.
