As basic human needs are unrecognized and overshadowed by cultural developments, this mode of thinking leads to the increasing neglect of human consciousness values. This phenomenon serves as the primary background for examining the concept of the art of loving within the perspective of humanism through a comparative study of the thoughts of Erich Fromm and Nurcholish Madjid. In this context, the researcher starts from two main problem formulations: How can the concept of the art of loving in humanism be understood through the instruments of thought of these two figures, and what are the similarities and differences in the thoughts of Erich Fromm and Nurcholish Madjid regarding the concept of the art of loving in humanism.  This research aims to systematically delineate the similarities and differences, as well as map how both thinkers analyze and develop the concept of love as an essential human value. To achieve this objective, the study employs a qualitative research approach with an intensive analytical-hermeneutic library study method and comparative analysis, deeply examining the primary and secondary scholarly works of both figures.  The research results indicate that both thinkers agree that love is an active process that requires reflective understanding, maturity of consciousness, respect for the individual, and ethical responsibility. Erich Fromm conceptualizes love as a universal humanistic capacity that develops in modern societies experiencing dehumanization, while Nurcholish Madjid positions love within the theocentric framework of tawhid as a manifestation of faith that integrates vertical-horizontal relations. However, the difference lies in the primary epistemological basis: the secular humanistic orientation in Fromm's thought, in contrast to the theocentric humanism in Madjid's thought. The analytical synthesis of this research affirms that love is an authentic and productive expression of inherent human values in the existential consciousness of free and responsible humans. This research recommends the elaboration of the concept of the art of loving in multidimensional dimensions as a significant theoretical and applicative contribution to contemporary humanitarian discourse.
