M.Ag. %T TRADISI HAUL DI NUSANTARA: PERSPEKTIF LIVING THEOLOGY %X The Nusantara haul tradition is a religious practice that is alive among Muslim communities as a form of respect for deceased Islamic figures. To date, there are more than fifty haul celebrations spread across Indonesia. Thus, this study aims to reveal the historical aspects that form the roots of the haul tradition in the history of Islam. In addition, it also aims to reveal the theological existence and meaning of Living Theology in the context of the Nusantara haul. The objects of research in this paper include the Haul Guru Sekumpul in Martapura, the Haul Habib Ali al-Habsyi in Solo, and the Haul KH. Ali Maksum in Yogyakarta. This research is a combination (mixed research) of library research and field research. However, the available and collected data will be constructed descriptively. Meanwhile, the data to be analyzed is qualitative data. The data collection method used is the triangulation method, namely direct and indirect observation techniques, interviews, and documentation. As for data analysis, the approach used is the Living Theology approach, taking into account the following three elements. First, the fact that the tradition is alive today. Second, the existence of hardware in the form of religious practices and software such as theological principles. Third, the existence of a long-rooted history. The haul tradition in Nusantara communities reflects the practice of living theology, a form of theology that is not merely understood conceptually but is brought to life through various religious practices such as dzikir tahlil, supplication, Qur’an recitation gatherings (khataman), manaqib readings, religious sermons, shalawat recitations, and related activities. The meaning of living theology embodied in this tradition arises from its theological convictions, including the affirmation of tawhid as the core of Islamic teachings, the belief that God is the ultimate source of help, the recognition of the Qur’an as guidance and a source of blessing, awareness of life after death, and faith in the prophethood of Muhammad. The haul tradition carries profound philosophical values, as it functions not only as a ritual of remembrance for deceased religious figures but also as a means of sustaining and nurturing the spiritual faith of the community. Philosophically, the spiritual practices within the haul tradition help internalize Islamic ethical values, serve as a medium for the transmission of religious knowledge, and preserve socio-cultural traditions. %K Haul, Living Theology, Nusantara %D 2025 %I UIN SUNAN KALIJAGA YOGYAKARTA %L digilib74563
