"This research aims to address the low speaking skill (Maharah Al-Kalam)\r\namong first-grade students of the Islamic Senior High School at Al-Furqan\r\nModern Islamic Boarding School, characterized by a lack of effective oral\r\ncommunication skills in daily Ma'had activities and the absence of a specific\r\nMaharah Al-Kalam instructional unit. Initial data indicated that the average\r\nstudent oral test score was only 51.9, significantly below the ideal target of 85.\r\nTherefore, this study aimed to: 1) Analyze the needs for developing an\r\ninstructional unit; 2) Design and develop the 'TAM' (Takallam Arabiyyah\r\nMubasyaroh) instructional unit based on the Direct Method; and 3) Measure the\r\neffectiveness of the 'TAM' unit in improving students' Maharah Al-Kalam.This\r\nresearch employed the Research and Development (R&D) method, adopting the\r\nADDIE model. The research subjects were 29 first-grade students of the Islamic\r\nSenior High School at Al-Furqan Modern Islamic Boarding School. The 'TAM'\r\nunit was designed as a printed module containing contextual conversation\r\nmaterial, focusing on areas prone to language violations (such as the kitchen,\r\ndormitory rooms, and classrooms), and fully implementing the Direct Method.\r\nThe research results indicate that the \"TAM\" Instructional Unit was\r\nsuccessfully developed and obtained a Highly Feasible rating from experts:\r\nMaterial Validator (89%), Design Validator (88%), and Language Validator\r\n(84%). In terms of practicality, the large-group trial results showed a percentage\r\nof 88%, classified as \"Very Good\". Meanwhile, the effectiveness test using the NGain\r\nTest resulted in an average score of 0.57. This value falls into the \"Medium\"\r\ncategory. Nevertheless, the use of the 'TAM' unit proved to yield a significant\r\nincrease in the students' average scores, from a pre-test score of 51.9 to a post-test\r\nscore of 79.2.The \"TAM\" Instructional Unit based on the Direct Method is proven\r\nto be valid, practical, and moderately effective in improving students' speaking\r\nskills.
