"The Society 5.0 era presents new moral challenges that require education\r\nnot only to master digital literacy but also to strengthen moral character. Therefore,\r\na comparative analysis of Thomas Lickona’s and Ki Hadjar Dewantara’s ideas on\r\ncharacter education is needed to formulate a humanistic and contextually relevant\r\nframework for character formation. This study aims to analyze the concepts of\r\ncharacter education proposed by both scholars, identify their similarities and\r\ndifferences, and formulate their implications for education in the Society 5.0 era.\r\nThis research employs a qualitative approach with a comparative method\r\nand content analysis. Data were collected through documentation techniques by\r\ngathering and reviewing various documents serving as sources of information for\r\nverification, interpretation, and prediction of the studied phenomena.\r\nThe results show that: (1) Thomas Lickona emphasizes three main pillars of\r\ncharacter education moral knowing, moral feeling, and moral action while Ki\r\nHadjar Dewantara prioritizes the balance of cipta (thought), rasa (feeling), and\r\nkarsa (will) within the among system, guiding children according to their natural\r\ndisposition. (2) Both view character education as the core of shaping civilized\r\nindividuals, yet differ in their philosophical foundations: Lickona’s framework is\r\ngrounded in Western humanistic morality, whereas Dewantara’s thought is rooted\r\nin Indonesian cultural and spiritual values. (3) The implication of both concepts\r\nresults in an integrative–conceptual model that combines moral rationality with\r\ncultural wisdom. This model is considered relevant for developing digital\r\nintelligence, empathy, ethics, and global competitiveness while maintaining human\r\nidentity.
