N2  - This study was motivated by the increasing circulation and consumption of
alcoholic beverages in the Special Region of Yogyakarta, which has caused social
unrest, increased crime, and weakened the morality of the younger generation. This
situation has prompted the emergence of various religious social movements, one of
which is the Forum Ukhuwah Islamiyah (FUI) DIY, which plays an active role in
combating alcoholic beverages through education and da'wah programs based on
Islamic values and local culture.
This study aims to analyze the form and implementation of FUI's educational
programs, the relationship between community cohesiveness and the effectiveness of
these programs, and the factors that influence the formation of social cohesiveness in
supporting the anti-alcohol movement. The research method used is qualitative with a
case study approach, focusing on the activities and community of FUI DIY. Data was
obtained through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation
studies involving administrators, members, and the surrounding community. The
analysis was conducted descriptively using Carron et al.'s group cohesiveness theory
to understand the dynamics of social relationships between members and their
contribution to the effectiveness of the education program.
Thematic studies, youth outreach, and moral campaigns in the community. A
high level of social cohesion is reflected in solidarity, trust, and a shared commitment
among the community to reject alcohol. Religious factors, leadership of prominent
figures, and the cultural value of mutual cooperation are the main factors
strengthening these social bonds. This study confirms that strengthening community
cohesion based on Islamic values is an effective and sustainable strategy in efforts to
combat alcohol in Yogyakarta.
