"The book Al-Jawāhir Al-Lu’lū’iyyah fī Syarḥ Al-Arba‘īn An-Nawawiyyah is one of the\r\ncommentaries on Al-Arba‘īn An-Nawawiyyah written by Shaykh Muhammad bin Abdillah Al-\r\nDimasyqi. This book occupies an important position among many works of ḥadīth commentary\r\nas it presents extensive discussions involving various branches of knowledge such as\r\nlinguistics, history, law, and ḥadīth studies. However, to date, no research has specifically\r\nexamined the methodology, approach, and distinctive characteristics of this work. Therefore,\r\nthis study aims to analyze the methods and approaches of ḥadīth commentary employed by\r\nShaykh Muhammad bin Abdillah Al-Dimasyqi and to identify the distinct features, strengths,\r\nweaknesses, and contributions of the book to the field of ḥadīth commentary.\r\nThis research is a qualitative library study using a descriptive-analytical method. The\r\nprimary data were obtained from the book Al-Jawāhir Al-Lu’lū’iyyah fī Syarḥ Al-Arba‘īn An-\r\nNawawiyyah by Shaykh Muhammad bin Abdillah Al-Dimasyqi, both from its Arabic version\r\npublished by Maktabah Al-Iman (Egypt) and its Indonesian translation. Secondary data were\r\ncollected from other ḥadīth works, commentaries, books, articles, and relevant scholarly\r\nliterature. Data were gathered through documentation and in-depth reading of the text, and\r\nanalyzed using a descriptive analytical technique.\r\nThe results of the study show that the commentary method used by Shaykh Muhammad\r\nbin Abdillah Al-Dimasyqi in Al-Jawāhir Al-Lu’lū’iyyah is the tahlili method, employing\r\nlinguistic, historical, legal, and naqli approaches. This book is characterized by its systematic\r\nstructure, comprehensive information on mukharrij, the inclusion of Dabth Al-Khafiy min Al-\r\nAlfazh li Al-Imam An-Nawawi, and the section Al-Durus Al-Mustafād min Al-Hadith. Its\r\nstrengths include providing titles for each ḥadīth, complete biographies of narrators, detailed\r\nexplanations of mukharrij, and deep analytical discussions. However, its weaknesses lie in the\r\nabsence of ḥadīth authentication (takhrij), the lack of the author’s biography, and excessively\r\nlengthy and complex explanations that may challenge general readers. Overall, this book makes\r\na significant contribution to enriching the literature of ḥadīth commentary and developing a\r\nmultidisciplinary approach in contemporary ḥadīth studies."^^ .
