This series presents a contested interpretation of hadiths concerning women through a battle of meanings between antagonists and protagonist. The manipulation practices carried out by Walid represent how religious authority can be reproduced through audiovisuals, thereby legitimizing patriarchy, while Baiduri presents a critique that challenges this construction. This phenomenon demonstrates that hadith no longer circulates solely wthin academic or pesantren-based settings but is also produced, contested, and negotatied within media spaces that significantly shape public understanding. Theorectically, this research employs Roland Barthes’ semiotics denotation, connotation, and myth to decode the layers of meaning embedded in the visual, verbal, and audiotory elements of Bidaah. Methodologically, this study adopts a qualitative-descriptive approach, gathering data through detailed observation of episodes containing Hadith, examining classical and contemporary hadith sources, and reviewing scholarly literature on hadith representation in media. Data were analyzed through a process of narrative separation, connotative reading, and interpretative synthesis to determine the direction and ideological orientation of each character’s use of hadith. The findings reveal that Bidaah does not merely portray hadith as normative religious text but reconstructs is as a contested idgn shaped by ideological interests. The antagonist constructs a patriarchal myth through textualist interpretations that reinforce male dominance, whereas the protagonist formulates a counter-myth grounded in Islamic ethical principles and gender justice. This contestation illustrates that Bidaah adopts a critical stance toward religious interpretations that perpetuate gender inequality and seeks to restore hadith as a dynamic space pf meaning within contemporary social contexts. Consequently, the series emerges as an epistemological arena that reconfigures authority and enables more just and humane reinterpretations of hadith concerning women. date: 2025-12-17 date_type: published pages: 309 institution: UIN SUNAN KALIJAGA YOGYAKARTA department: FAKULTAS USHULUDDIN DAN PEMIKIRAN ISLAM thesis_type: masters thesis_name: other citation: Syahla Berta Aulia, NIM.: 23205032011 (2025) KONTESTASI INTERPRETASI HADIS-HADIS TENTANG PEREMPUAN PADA TAYANGAN SERIES BIDAAH.
