The method used in this study is qualitative. The subjects in this study were librarians and head of libraries at the Ahmad Dahlan University Library, and the object of this study was the leadership style of the head of the library to increase the work motivation of librarians. The data collection method in this study used observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis technique went through three stages, namely: data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Testing the validity of the data used a credibility test, namely source triangulation and member check. The results of the study showed that from the path-goal leadership theory consisting of 4 types of leadership styles (directive, participatory, supportive, achievement-oriented), the head of the UAD library tended to use a participatory leadership style. The directive leadership style was the leadership style least applied by the head of the UAD library. Meanwhile, the form of motivation given by the head of the UAD library found 5 forms of motivation given, namely involvement in decision making, providing freedom to be creative, recognition and appreciation of outstanding librarians, opportunities for self-development, flexibility of working hours. %Z Muhammad Ainul Yaqin, S.Pd., M.Ed.
