Language contact may give rise to linguistic interference or disruptions in learners’ language competence. Such phenomena are not only experienced by novice learners but also by individuals who have been engaged with foreign languages for an extended period. This issue is also observed among the students of Makhad Khadim al-haramain-al-Syarifain in Banda Aceh. Accordingly, this study aims to identify the forms of Acehnese language interference in Arabic conversations and to examine the factors that contribute to the occurrence of such interference among LIPIA Aceh students. The objectives of this research are to determine the types of interference present among LIPIA Aceh students, to investigate the underlying causes of the interference, and to propose solutions to mitigate the interference. This study adopts the listening method, which is further supported by the free listening and note-taking techniques. The findings reveal three forms of interference: (1) phonological-level interference, including vowel changes, consonant changes, and vowel shortening; (2) morphological-level interference, involving the arabization of Acehnese, compounding (compositum), and modifications in verb forms; and (3) syntactic-level interference, encompassing alterations in sentence elements, phrase structures, and sentence construction errors. The factors contributing to the interference are categorized into two groups: linguistic factors, which include phonetic, morphological, and syntactic elements, and non-linguistic factors, such as informal language use, humor or playfulness, efforts to demonstrate fluency, and excessively rapid speech patterns. date: 2024-12-16 date_type: published pages: 182 institution: UIN SUNAN KALIJAGA YOGYAKARTA department: FAKULTAS ADAB DAN ILMU BUDAYA thesis_type: masters thesis_name: other citation: Zulfan Hasdiansyah, NIM.: 20201012008 (2024) INTERFERENSI BAHASA ACEH TERHADAP PERCAKAPAN BAHASA ARAB (STUDI KASUS MAHASISWA LIPIA ACEH).
