Abul A’la Al-Maududi or often called Al-Maududi was a great Islamic scholar in India and Pakistan. Al-Maududi is famous for the consistency of his thinking which sees Islam as a comprehensive system and must be applied by Muslims in political and social life. According to him, an Islamic state must be led by a caliph who has full authority to run the government in accordance with Islamic teachings. This study aims to understand the concept of the caliphate state according to Al-Maududi and trace the influence of his thinking on the formation of Jamaat-e-Islami. This study uses a biographical approach by using the theory of intellectual history according to R.G. Collingwood as an analytical tool with qualitative research that focuses on text analysis of Al-Maududi's writings regarding the concept of the caliphate state. This analysis is supported by a literature study (library research) while in the effort to compile data collection, four research steps are used or commonly called historical methodology including heuristics, source criticism, interpretation, and historiography. The results of the study show that Al-Maududi's thoughts on the concept of the caliphate state have a significant influence in the Islamic world, especially in the context of the rise of Islamism in the 20th century. Al-Maududi succeeded in articulating a model of Islamic government that rejects Western ideas such as secular democracy, capitalism, and nationalism. His thoughts became an inspiration for various Islamic movements, including the implementation of the Jamaat-e-Islami movement in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and other islamic countries. %K Negara Khilafah, Al-Maududi, Jamaat-e-Islami %D 2024 %I UIN SUNAN KALIJAGA YOGYAKARTA %L digilib75128
