        abstract = {This research is entitled ?The Form of the Main Character?s Existence in the Novel Saq al-Bambu by Sa?ud As-San?usi: A Study of Jean-Paul Sartre?s Existentialism?. The efforts of the main character Jose in the novel Saq al-Bambu to realize his existence always fail. The study of the existence of the character Jose is interesting because there are many essences that try to precede Jose?s existence. The purpose of this study is to reveal the form of the character Jose?s existence, the facticities in Jose?s freedom, and the form of the author?s thinking in the novel Saq al-Bambu. This research uses a library research and uses a descriptive qualitative analysis method. This study utilizes Jean-Paul Sartre?s Existentialism Philosophy theory. The researcher found that the main character Jose's form of existence tends to be inauthentic because his experiences La Mauvaise-foi, La Reification, and La Nausea. The causes are objectification and discrimination in the form of racism. This creates a feeling of being trapped in Jose?s existence, a feeling of anxiety about other people?s gazes, and Jose?s inability to determine the essence of his existence. The form of the author's thoughts in the novel Saq al-Bambu is in the form of criticism of Kuwaiti society and criticism of discrimination in Kuwait. From the results of the analysis, it can be said that the author's thoughts are dominated by the influence of Jean-Paul Sartre's Existentialist philosophy so that the novel Saq al-Bambu can be categorized as an existentialist novel.}
