N2  - The reporting on the attack on Al-Syif? Hospital in Al-Jaz?rah and CNN Arabic appears contrasting, as these media outlets differ in their tendencies and ideologies. This study analyzes the differences in tendencies and ideologies reflected in Al-Jaz?rah and CNN Arabic's coverage of the Al-Syif? Hospital attack. The research is based on analyzing text dimensions, social cognition, and social context using Teun A. van Dijk's Critical Discourse Analysis approach. This study employs a qualitative descriptive method. The results show significant differences in the reporting of Al-Jaz?rah and CNN Arabic. Al-Jaz?rah tends to emphasize humanitarian issues and the impact of the conflict in its coverage, while CNN Arabic focuses more on the narrative of military operations and the efforts of Israeli forces to maintain security. In the dimension of social cognition, the mental models of the two media are influenced by their respective ideologies. Al-Jaz?rah, which sides with Palestine, is shaped by Qatar's Islamic conservative ideology. Conversely, CNN Arabic, which appears to support Israel, is influenced by the liberal ideology of the United States. In the social context, Al-Jaz?rah, under the influence of Qatar known for its strong ties with Palestine and Hamas demonstrates solidarity with Palestine. Meanwhile, CNN Arabic, operating under CNN, headquartered in the United States, tends to convey narratives supporting Israel, reflecting the strong multi-faceted relationship between the U.S. and Israel. This study reveals that the tendencies of these media's reporting are inseparable from the ideologies, social cognition, and social context in which they operate or are based, resulting in divergent perspectives on the same event.
