%T ANALISIS WACANA KRITIS THEO VAN LEEUWEN DALAM REPRESENTASI PALESTINA DAN ISRAEL PADA HEADLINE PEMBERITAAN MEDIA AL-JAZEERA ARABIC DAN CNN ARABIC
%X This research criticizes the tendency of Al-Jazeera Arabic and CNN Arabic media in representing the image of Palestine and Israel through news headlines. The purpose of this study is to uncover the tendency of Al-Jazeera Arabic and CNN Arabic media in representing the image of Palestine and Israel in news headlines so that the public is wiser and not easily led by news headlines. This qualitative research data is in the form of news headlines sourced from Al-Jazeera Arabic and CNN Arabic media in October 2023. Data were collected through the listening method with reading techniques and screenshot documentation. The data that have been collected is then analyzed using critical and dialectical methods, which are aligned with Theo van Leeuwen's critical discourse analysis (CDA) theory to identify the representation of social actors in the discourse. The results of this study show a tendency represented through strategic patterns of exclusion and inclusion. The tendency of Al-Jazeera Arabic media is identified through 7 exclusion processes in the form of passivation, nominalization and clause replacement strategies, and 102 inclusion processes in the form of differentiation, objectivation, abstraction, categorization, identification, indetermination, determination and assimilation strategies. Through these strategies, Al-Jazeera Arabic media represents Palestine with a positive image and Israel with a negative image. Meanwhile, CNN Arabic media represents Israel with a positive image and Palestine tends to be negative. The tendency of CNN Arabic media is identified through 9 exclusion processes in the form of passivation, nominalization, and clause replacement strategies, as well as 76 inclusion processes in the form of differentiation, objectivation, abstraction, categorization, identification, indetermination, determination, assimilation, and association strategies.
