The demonstration, which involved thousands of participants, sparked public controversy after President Prabowo Subianto labeled the action as an act of treason. This statement was subsequently responded to critically by the Executive Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) through NU Online. This study aims to reveal how NU Online, as a religiously affiliated media outlet, frames treason issues and represents power relations between the government and civil society. This study employs a qualitative method using Robert N. Entman?s framing analysis to examine 11 NU Online news articles published between August and September 2025. The analysis is strengthened by the theory of social construction of media and the concept of affiliated media. The findings indicate that NU Online consistently constructs narratives that position treason accusations as an excessive governmental response to democratic expression. In the define problems dimension, the issue is shifted from the demonstrators? actions to the disproportionate use of the term treason. In the diagnose causes dimension, the causes are attributed to excessive security-oriented approaches and the government?s failure to adequately respond to public aspirations. Through moral judgments, NU Online frames the criminalization of public criticism as a threat to democracy. In treatment recommendations, the media promotes dialogue, the cessation of criminalization, and the strengthening of state accountability. The process of social construction operates through three stages: externalization, objectivation, and internalization. As a PBNU-affiliated media outlet, NU Online demonstrates source affiliation through the dominance of PBNU and civil society actors, value affiliation through the implementation of Aswaja An-Nahdliyyah principles, and agenda affiliation that emphasizes state accountability and the protection of citizens? rights. This research confirms that NU Online functions as a balancing force in public discourse by defending democratic space amid government narratives that prioritize security concerns.} }
