"This study aims to analyze the determinants of adopting online\r\npayment for zakat, infaq, and sadaqah (ZIS – obligatory almsgiving,\r\nvoluntary charitable giving, and voluntary alms in Islam) through\r\ndigital platforms by comparing the behavior of urban and suburban\r\ncommunities in Indonesia. The conceptual model was developed by\r\nadapting the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology\r\n(UTAUT) framework, which was expanded into three main\r\ndimensions: technological determinants (performance expectancy,\r\neffort expectancy, perceived risk), personal determinants (hedonic\r\nmotivation, habit, personal innovativeness in technology, digital\r\ntrust), and environmental determinants (facilitating conditions,\r\nelectronic word of mouth [e-WoM], social influence). In addition,\r\ndigital financial literacy was tested as a moderating variable that\r\nstrengthens the relationship between intention and actual behavior in\r\ndigital ZIS payments.\r\nThis research employs a quantitative design using primary data\r\nfrom an online questionnaire survey administered to 369 respondents\r\nfrom 32 provinces in Indonesia who had previously paid ZIS through\r\ndigital platforms. The collected data were analyzed using the Partial\r\nLeast Squares–Multi-Group Analysis (PLS-MGA) method with the\r\nassistance of SmartPLS 4 software to identify and compare the\r\ndeterminants influencing digital ZIS payment adoption between\r\nurban and suburban communities. Overall, the results show that the\r\nadoption behavior of digital ZIS payments is determined primarily by\r\nintention to use, and this intention is positively and significantly\r\ninfluenced by performance expectancy, effort expectancy, habit,\r\npersonal innovativeness in technology, digital trust, and e-WoM,\r\nwhile perceived risk has a significantly negative effect. Conversely,\r\nhedonic motivation and facilitating conditions do not significantly\r\naffect the intention to pay ZIS digitally. The multigroup analysis\r\nreveals interregional differences, in which perceived risk has a\r\nsignificant negative effect among suburban communities but is not\r\nsignificant among urban communities. Effort expectancy is also\r\nsignificant only for the suburban group, whereas e-WoM shows a\r\nspecifically significant effect among urban communities. These\r\nfindings confirm the presence of variation in digital ZIS adoption\r\ndeterminants based on regional characteristics. Additionally, digital\r\n\r\nfinancial literacy was found to strengthen the relationship between\r\nintention and actual digital ZIS payment behavior in both community\r\ngroups.\r\nThis study enriches the UTAUT literature by integrating variables\r\nsuch as personal innovativeness, perceived risk, digital trust, and e-\r\nWoM into the three main determinants (technological, personal, and\r\nenvironmental) and by introducing digital financial literacy as a\r\nmoderating variable, thereby producing a more comprehensive and\r\ncapable conceptual model in explaining digital ZIS payment\r\nadoption behavior in Indonesia. The findings highlight that\r\nimproving digital financial literacy—alongside strengthening\r\ntechnological, personal, and environmental aspects—is an essential\r\nprerequisite for promoting the sustainability of digital ZIS service\r\nadoption.
