Within this context, literature emerges as a space for social critique that represents power relations among humans, nature, and the underlying structures of domination. Dian Purnomo?s novel Perempuan yang Menunggu di Lorong Menuju Laut is one of the literary works that addresses ecological conflicts resulting from mining activities as well as women?s struggles to defend their living spaces. This study aims to analyze and explain the forms of women?s resistance and leadership in environmental protection as depicted in Perempuan yang Menunggu di Lorong Menuju Laut by Dian Purnomo. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method with a content analysis technique applied to relevant quotations from the novel. James C. Scott?s theory of resistance is used as the primary theoretical framework to identify women?s strategies of resistance against oppressive power structures. Norman Fairclough?s Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) serves as a supporting approach to reveal the discursive and social practices underlying the conflicts and struggles of female characters in the novel. In addition, Vandana Shiva?s ecofeminist perspective is applied as a complementary framework to understand women?s leadership oriented toward life preservation and environmental sustainability within the local context of the Sangihe community. The results of this study reveal several factors that contribute to the emergence of women?s resistance in the novel. Furthermore, nine quotations representing open resistance were identified and classified into five forms: the formulation of protest plans, direct resistance against mining companies, the resistance of Sangihe women, the peak of collective resistance within the Sangihe community, and the lawsuit filed by forty-five women. Two quotations indicating forms of hidden resistance were also identified. The representation of women?s leadership depicted in the novel is classified into three forms: life-based leadership, collective leadership, and subsistence-oriented leadership. Through Fairclough?s discourse analysis, the novel affirms women?s position as empowered subjects and highlights the close relationship between women?s struggles and environmental preservation.
