"This thesis discusses the practice of suwuk healing with a case study of KH\r\nAbdul Khalim in Gunung Kidul. The practice of suwuk healing is a form of\r\ntraditional healing that is still popular and developing in the Javanese Islamic\r\ncommunity. The practice of suwuk healing is not only understood as an\r\nalternative healing method, but also as a process of transcendental\r\ncommunication involving symbolic relationships between humans, God and\r\nreligious values. The purpose of this thesis is to analyse and assess suwuk healing\r\npractices as a form of transcendental communication, focusing on Islamic\r\nsymbols, the communication process, and the role of healers in building patients'\r\nbeliefs and healing experiences.\r\nThe main questions in this study are: what form does transcendental\r\ncommunication take in KH Abdul Khalim's suwuk healing practice? and how can\r\nthe transcendental communication in KH Abdul Khalim's suwuk practice be used\r\nin patient healing practices? To answer these questions, this study conducted field\r\nobservations and direct interviews with healers. In addition, this study conducted\r\nadditional searches for other data such as books and journals. Then, in analysing\r\nthe data, this study used symbolic interactionism theory, Max Weber's social\r\naction theory, and Harold Lasswell's communication model to understand the\r\ncommunication process, meaning construction, and communication effects in\r\nsuwuk practices.\r\nThe results of this study indicate that the practice of suwuk healing is a\r\nstructured and meaningful form of transcendental communication, manifested\r\nthrough the use of prayers, verses from the Qur'an, and plain water as religious\r\nsymbols. KH Abdul Khalim acts as a spiritual mediator who facilitates the healing\r\nprocess. Furthermore, the authority and legitimacy of the healer are important in\r\nstrengthening the patient's belief, inner peace and hope for healing."^^ . "2026-01-09" . . . .
