abstract: The formation of students' religious character through the full-day school program
at SMPIT Abu Bakar Yogyakarta has been running well, but it is not yet fully
optimal. This is marked by a number of obstacles, such as differences in habits
between home and school, limited guidance staff, peer influence, and a heavy
academic and memorization schedule that has the potential to cause student
boredom, so that the internalization of religious values has not been maximized.
Therefore, this study aims to examine the implementation of religious character
building, analyze the problems encountered, and explore its implications for the
achievement of Islamic education goals at SMPIT Abu Bakar Yogyakarta. This
study uses qualitative research with a case study approach. Data collection
techniques include interviews, observation, and documentation. Data validity is
tested using triangulation. Data analysis techniques use Miles and Huberman's
interactive model through the stages of data collection, data condensation, data
presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study show that the
formation of religious character in students at SMPIT Abu Bakar Yogyakarta
through the full-day school program has been carried out effectively and
systematically through five dimensions of religious character, namely belief,
worship, appreciation, knowledge, and practice. However, the process still faces
various problems, both from within the students and from external factors, such as
differences in habits between home and school, the burden of memorization and
academic targets, and the limitations of teachers in providing guidance. The
implications of this religious character building are reflected in changes in student
behavior, the internalization of religious values in daily life, the formation of
Islamic manners, and alignment with the goals of Islamic education and the concept
of ta'dib according to Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas.
