"This study examines the dynamics of Islamic Religious Education in the\r\nGedhe Kauman Mosque for the period 2005-2025. The purpose of this study is to\r\nanalyze in depth the dynamics of education, identify and explore internal and\r\nexternal factors, and analyze the implications of the dynamics of Islamic Religious\r\nEducation on the sustainability of the strategic role of the Gedhe Kauman Mosque\r\nas an Islamic educational institution. This type of research is qualitative research\r\nwith a historical sociological approach. The data collection method uses\r\nobservation, in-depth interviews, and documentation.\r\nThe historical approach is used to map the periodization of educational\r\ndynamics, while the sociological approach is used to analyze the reciprocal\r\ninteraction between mosque institutions and societal changes, as well as dissect the\r\nadaptation mechanisms of Islamic education in responding to the demands of\r\nmodernity and digital culture without losing its cultural identity. This research uses\r\nRobert W. Hefner's modernization theory. In this perspective, the modernization of\r\nIslamic education is not an attempt at secularization or rejection of tradition, but\r\nrather a process of institutional adaptation to democratize science and synthesize\r\nreligious values with the demands of the times, markets, and modern civil society.\r\nThe results of the study show that the Dynamics of Islamic Religious\r\nEducation at the Gedhe Kauman Mosque (2005-2025) represents a progressive\r\nevolutionary transformation through the phases of conservation, network\r\ndevelopment, and digital modernization, which proves the high adaptability of\r\ninstitutions in responding to the challenges of the times without uprooting their\r\nhistorical roots. This change is driven by a synergistic dialectic between internal\r\nand external factors. Internal factors include the vision of professional leadership,\r\nideological strengthening, financial independence, and takmir's intellectual\r\ncapacity. Meanwhile, external factors are in the form of disruption of the COVID-\r\n19 pandemic and technological determinism that demands the digitalization of\r\neducation. The strategic implications of these dynamics are manifested systemically\r\nin the expansion of trans-spatial educational reach, the strengthening of scientific\r\nauthority based on standardized curriculum, congregational regeneration\r\nstrategies that are adaptive to popular culture, and the institutionalization of media\r\ngovernance that ensures the resilience of mosques as the center of relevant and\r\nsustainable Islamic civilization."^^ .
