N2  - This research aims to reconstruct and analyze the pattern of Nawawi al-
Bantani?s Intra-Qur?anic Hermeneutics in his commentary (tafs?r) book, Mara?
Lab?d. Intra-Qur?anic Hermeneutics is defined as the practice of Tafs?r al-Qur?an
bi al-Qur?an, a fundamental methodology for understanding the Qur'an as an
integral and coherent text that is self-explanatory. This research employs a library
research approach using descriptive-analytical and historical-hermeneutical
methods to examine the consistency and mechanism of Nawawi?s interpretation.
The research result indicate that Nawawi al-Bantani did not consistently
apply the Intra-Qur?anic method throughout his commentary. Out of 6,236 Qur'anic
verses, the author identified only 70 verses that employ Intra-Qur?anic
Hermeneutics. From that total, this thesis analyzes 20 verses that utilize munasabah
(inter-verse correlation) as a hermeneutical instrument. The reconstruction of the
interpretative pattern reveals that Nawawi interpreted Qur'anic verses by
referencing other verses that possess thematic, semantic, and structural alignment,
thereby establishing an integral coherence of meaning.
This research highlights Nawawi al-Bantani?s inconsistency in building the
internal coherence of the Qur'an. Nevertheless, this Intra-Qur?anic Hermeneutical
pattern serves as an effective mechanism for preserving the originality of meaning
and minimizing subjectivity in interpretation, providing a significant contribution
to the study of Nusantara exegesis methodology.
