However, in practice, not all students interpret career opportunities in line with the normative preferences of their study program. Some students are showing a tendency to choose non-linear careers in response to labor market dynamics, personal value reflection, and experiences during the transition from education to the world of work. This phenomenon has not been widely studied, especially in the context of Islamic universities. Therefore, this study is focused on answering the research question regarding how the interaction between self-efficacy, outcome expectations, career goals, career values, and student agency shapes non-linear career choices among students at the Faculty of Science and Technology, UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. A qualitative approach with a case study design to explore students' subjective experiences in the career decision-making process. Data was collected thru semi-structured in-depth interviews with five students from the Faculty of Science and Technology who were in the transition phase toward the world of work and showed a tendency to choose non-linear careers. Data analysis was conducted thematically, referencing the Social Cognitive Career Theory (SCCT) framework, Career Decision Making Style theory, and the concept of protean career attitudes, in order to understand the psychological, social, and value dynamics underlying students' career decisions. The research findings indicate that choosing a non-linear career path is an adaptive strategy that reflects students' active role as agents (human agency) in navigating career uncertainty. This decision was formed thru a dynamic interaction between external factors, such as limited linear job opportunities and labor market competition, and internal factors, including the value of flexibility, self-development orientation, economic sustainability, and religious values. A non-linear career is understood as a space for compromise that allows students to maintain subjective control, personal meaning, and value consistency in sustainable career development. %K Pemilihan Karier, SCCT, Karier Protean, Mahasiswa Sains dan Teknology %D 2026 %I UIN SUNAN KALIJAGA YOGYAKARTA %L digilib75469
