Marriages involving PMD raise legal and social issues, particularly concerning legal capacity and the fulfillment of the rights and obligations of husbands and wives in household life. This study aims to analyze the practice of fulfilling the rights and obligations of PMD couples and to assess its conformity with the provisions of positive law and Islamic law. This study is a field study with an empirical juridical approach. Research data was collected through interviews, observations, and documentation of PMD couples, immediate and extended families, as well as related parties in Margorejo Village. This research is descriptive-analytical with data analysis conducted qualitatively using inductive methods, namely drawing conclusions based on empirical facts found in the field, then relating them to positive law and Islamic law provisions. The theory of fulfillment of rights and obligations was used as an analytical framework to assess the implementation of the roles of husbands and wives in terms of fulfilling financial obligations, managing the household, and caring for children, as well as to examine the relationship between the psychological condition of PMD couples and the role of the extended family in household life. The results show that the fulfillment of household rights and obligations among PMD couples in Margorejo Village has not been carried out optimally. Unstable mental health conditions limit the ability of PMD couples to perform their roles as husbands or wives. The fulfillment of financial obligations, household management, and child care often involves the extended family. In marriages where both husband and wife are PMD, the extended family plays a dominant role, whereas in families with only one PMD spouse, the division of roles tends to be more flexible. This study concludes that the practice of fulfilling household rights and obligations in PMD marriages is adaptive and collective in nature, thus requiring a more inclusive and contextual legal approach that considers the psychological conditions of the couples and the support of the extended family. date: 2026-01-20 date_type: published pages: 134 institution: UIN SUNAN KALIJAGA YOGYAKARTA department: FAKULTAS SYARIAH DAN HUKUM thesis_type: skripsi thesis_name: other citation: Sovianita Rusdiana Uswati, NIM.: 22103050064 (2026) PRAKTIK PEMENUHAN HAK DAN KEWAJIBAN RUMAH TANGGA PADA PERKAWINAN ODGJ (STUDI KASUS DI DESA MARGOREJO, KAPANEWON TEMPEL, KABUPATEN SLEMAN, DAERAH ISTIMEWA YOGYAKARTA).
