This study aims to synthesize a CuO/Zeolite catalyst via the hydrothermal method assisted by Cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) as a template, and to evaluate its catalytic activity in the one-pot synthesis of vanillin from eugenol. The use of CTAB is intended as a Structure Directing Agent (SDA) to direct and accelerate the formation of a stable zeolite framework. The catalyst was synthesized hydrothermally at 180°C for 5 hours, followed by copper metal impregnation and a calcination process at 500°C. Catalyst characterization was performed using X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) and Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR). XRD results showed the formation of a sharp crystalline phase of Analcime zeolite at 2? angles of 15.85°, 26.01°, and 30.61°, along with the appearance of characteristic CuO peaks at 35.49° and 38.57°. FTIR results confirmed the presence of asymmetric stretching vibrations of Si-O-Si and Al-O-Al at a wavenumber of 1010.70 cm?¹, which are characteristic of the zeolite framework. The CuO/Zeolite catalyst was employed in a one-pot system conducted at 60-65°C for 2-3 hours to facilitate the conversion of Eugenol to Vanillin using Methanol as a solvent and Hydrogen Peroxide as an oxidant. Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) analysis demonstrated that the CuO/Zeolite catalyst successfully converted eugenol into vanillin with a conversion rate of 6.41% using 0.04 grams of catalyst.
