"Laundry wastewater is a domestic liquid waste containing various organic and\r\ninorganic pollutants that can contribute to the decline in water quality. If directly\r\ndischarged into water bodies, it can cause environmental problems. This study\r\naims to synthesize magnetite nanomaterial modified with peanut shell extract\r\n(Fe₃O₄–AHL) derived from household waste and to apply it as an adsorption\r\nmedium in a wastewater filtration system combined with zeolite. The synthesis of\r\nFe₃O₄–AHL was carried out using the reverse co-precipitation method with water\r\nas the solvent at a temperature of 60°C. Fe₃O₄–AHL was characterized using\r\nFTIR, XRD, and SEM-EDX. Wastewater before and after filtration was tested for\r\nCOD, TSS, TDS, detergent, pH, and temperature parameters to determine the\r\nperformance and regeneration ability of Fe₃O₄–AHL as a filtration medium for\r\nlaundry wastewater. The FTIR and XRD spectra showed that the produced\r\nmagnetite was pure and not mixed with other iron oxides. SEM-EDX\r\ncharacterization showed that Fe₃O₄–AHL had a rough surface with irregular size\r\nand distribution, with the main elemental composition consisting of Fe, O, and C.\r\nThe crystallite size and particle size of Fe₃O₄–AHL were 4.83 nm and 250.97 nm,\r\nrespectively. The application of the combination of Fe₃O₄–AHL and zeolite as\r\nfilter media showed good performance in reducing COD, TSS, TDS, and\r\ntemperature parameters compared to filters without Fe₃O₄–AHL media.\r\nMeanwhile, the combination of Fe₃O₄–AHL and zeolite as an adsorption medium\r\nin the filter caused an increase in the pH parameter, but it was still within the\r\nrequired quality standard range. The regeneration study results showed that the\r\nfilter with the combination of Fe₃O₄–AHL and zeolite still had good potential to\r\nbe reused in laundry wastewater treatment for up to five filtration cycles, where\r\nthe filter performance in reducing COD, TSS, and detergent remained relatively\r\nstable up to the fifth cycle."^^ .
