Si. abstract: Laundry wastewater is a domestic liquid waste containing various organic and inorganic pollutants that can contribute to the decline in water quality. If directly discharged into water bodies, it can cause environmental problems. This study aims to synthesize magnetite nanomaterial modified with peanut shell extract (Fe₃O₄–AHL) derived from household waste and to apply it as an adsorption medium in a wastewater filtration system combined with zeolite. The synthesis of Fe₃O₄–AHL was carried out using the reverse co-precipitation method with water as the solvent at a temperature of 60°C. Fe₃O₄–AHL was characterized using FTIR, XRD, and SEM-EDX. Wastewater before and after filtration was tested for COD, TSS, TDS, detergent, pH, and temperature parameters to determine the performance and regeneration ability of Fe₃O₄–AHL as a filtration medium for laundry wastewater. The FTIR and XRD spectra showed that the produced magnetite was pure and not mixed with other iron oxides. SEM-EDX characterization showed that Fe₃O₄–AHL had a rough surface with irregular size and distribution, with the main elemental composition consisting of Fe, O, and C. The crystallite size and particle size of Fe₃O₄–AHL were 4.83 nm and 250.97 nm, respectively. The application of the combination of Fe₃O₄–AHL and zeolite as filter media showed good performance in reducing COD, TSS, TDS, and temperature parameters compared to filters without Fe₃O₄–AHL media. Meanwhile, the combination of Fe₃O₄–AHL and zeolite as an adsorption medium in the filter caused an increase in the pH parameter, but it was still within the required quality standard range.
