"The development of the electronic music ecosystem in Yogyakarta cannot be\r\nseparated from the role of independent communities and collectives that have\r\nbeen operating independently with limited resources. The Majelis GAUNG was\r\nestablished as a collaborative initiative that seeks to empower electronic\r\nmusicians by bringing them together so that they can work in a connected,\r\ninclusive, and sustainable manner. This study examines the role of Majelis\r\nGAUNG in the empowerment process and the challenges that arise during its\r\nimplementation. The study uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods\r\nthrough data collection techniques such as observation, in-depth interviews, and\r\ndocumentation. Data analysis is carried out through data reduction, data\r\npresentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study show that the role\r\nof the Majelis GAUNG is reflected in its efforts as a facilitator, connector, and\r\ncatalyst that provides a collaborative space across communities, strengthens the\r\ncapacity of electronic music practitioners, and facilitates technical, curatorial,\r\nand administrative needs. This is done through a process of awareness raising,\r\ndeliberation, knowledge transfer, and the provision of a space for expression.\r\nHowever, the implementation of empowerment through community networking\r\nstill faces a few challenges, including limited funding and legitimacy, differences\r\nin work culture between communities, coordination dynamics, and efforts to\r\nmaintain a balance between professionalism and the organic nature of\r\nindependent communities. These findings indicate that the Majelis GAUNG is in\r\nthe early stages of developing a more structured and sustainable model for\r\norganizing electronic music."^^ . "2026-01-14" . . . .
