Social support is a crucial factor in helping PLWHA achieve psychosocial balance and maintain their social roles. This study aims to analyze the forms of social support received by PLWHA and the role of family and institutions in supporting their social functioning at Yayasan Victory Plus Yogyakarta. A qualitative approach using a case study method was employed. The subjects included three PLWHA, three family members, and one institutional informant selected purposively. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation, and were analyzed thematically. The results indicate that PLWHA receive social support in the form of emotional, instrumental, informational, and appraisal support, which complement each other between family and institutions. Families provide acceptance, affection, and a sense of security, while institutions contribute through peer support, HIV education, and facilitation of access to health services. This social support contributes to improved psychosocial conditions and social functioning, including adherence to treatment, maintenance of social relationships, and the ability to fulfill roles as individuals and mothers. The study concludes that integrated social support from both family and institutions forms a robust support system and is a key factor in enhancing the social well-being of PLWHA.
