This is characterized by hasty behavior and a desire for instant gratification. This phenomenon is shaped by parenting patterns, environmental factors, and a tendency to focus on results rather than appreciating the process children go through. This situation indicates the need for a learning approach that is not solely oriented toward cognitive aspects but also focuses on character development in children from an early age. One approach deemed relevant is the Waldorf approach, which is based on the philosophy of anthroposophy and emphasizes the balance of physical, emotional, and spiritual development in children. This is evident in the character of children attending Kulila Waldorf Playgroup Yogyakarta, who demonstrate an independent and calm attitude in their daily lives. This study aims to describe the strengthening of independent and calm character in early childhood through the application of the Waldorf approach at Kulila Waldorf Playgroup Yogyakarta. The study used a qualitative approach with a phenomenological approach. Data sources consisted of three teachers and six parents. Data collection techniques were in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study indicate that the Waldorf approach plays a role in strengthening the independent and calm character of early childhood through consistent habits in school learning activities. The habituation of a structured daily routine and the application of a breathing-out and breathing-in rhythm in learning and play activities encourages children to manage themselves, carry out activities independently, and demonstrate composure in various situations.
