bibo:abstract "This research is motivated by various phenomena that indicate that early\r\nchildhood children tend not to be independent in meeting their basic daily needs\r\nand have low self-regulation skills. This is characterized by hasty behavior and a\r\ndesire for instant gratification. This phenomenon is shaped by parenting patterns,\r\nenvironmental factors, and a tendency to focus on results rather than appreciating\r\nthe process children go through. This situation indicates the need for a learning\r\napproach that is not solely oriented toward cognitive aspects but also focuses on\r\ncharacter development in children from an early age. One approach deemed\r\nrelevant is the Waldorf approach, which is based on the philosophy of\r\nanthroposophy and emphasizes the balance of physical, emotional, and spiritual\r\ndevelopment in children. This is evident in the character of children attending\r\nKulila Waldorf Playgroup Yogyakarta, who demonstrate an independent and calm\r\nattitude in their daily lives.\r\nThis study aims to describe the strengthening of independent and calm\r\ncharacter in early childhood through the application of the Waldorf approach at\r\nKulila Waldorf Playgroup Yogyakarta. The study used a qualitative approach\r\nwith a phenomenological approach. Data sources consisted of three teachers and\r\nsix parents. Data collection techniques were in-depth interviews, observation, and\r\ndocumentation. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data\r\npresentation, and conclusion drawing.\r\nThe results of the study indicate that the Waldorf approach plays a role\r\nin strengthening the independent and calm character of early childhood through\r\nconsistent habits in school learning activities. The habituation of a structured\r\ndaily routine and the application of a breathing-out and breathing-in rhythm in\r\nlearning and play activities encourages children to manage themselves, carry out\r\nactivities independently, and demonstrate composure in various situations. Thus,\r\nthe Waldorf approach can be an alternative approach to early childhood learning\r\nthat focuses on strengthening the independent and calm character of children."^^xsd:string;
