Inaccurate premium reserve calculations result in reserve values that do not reflect actual liabilities, thereby potentially increasing the risk of default. One method used in premium reserve calculations is the Canadian method, a method of calculating premium reserves with initial premium modifications. This study aims to examine the concept of premium reserves, calculate premium reserves using the Canadian method, and determine the premium reserves formed during productive age. Premium reserve calculations were performed using the Canadian method with an assumed interest rate of 2.5%, the 1941 CSO mortality table, and coverage of Rp420, 000, 000, and the calculations were applied to several productive ages. The calculation process was carried out manually to illustrate the calculation stages and then implemented computationally using Python to ensure calculation accuracy and efficiency. The results showed that the premium reserve increased gradually as the insured’s age increased, and the reserve approached the benefit value at the end of the coverage period. In addition, insured persons with older entry ages tend to have higher premium reserves than insured persons who enter at younger ages. This is because older entry ages carry higher mortality risks and shorter reserve accumulation periods. %Z Sri Istiyarti Uswatun Chasanah, M.Si.
