As representatives of Islamic boarding school intellectuals, students of Ma’had Aly Krapyak have a unique perspective in constructing the criteria for an ideal partner. This study aims to analyze the criteria for an ideal partner according to students of Ma’had Aly Krapyak and review this construction through the perspective of Islamic legal sociology.&#13;
The research method used was qualitative, with field research, using interviews with Islamic boarding school students as the primary source. The approach employed was the sociology of Islamic law to examine how Islamic law, as understood from the literature on Islamic boarding school traditions, is practiced in social reality.&#13;
The results indicate that the construction of ideal partner criteria among Ma’had Aly Krapyak students emphasizes five main aspects: the quality of religiosity as the primary foundation, intellectual (educational) equality for effective communication, kafa'ah (social status equality) as a tool for harmonization, financial readiness as a form of realistic responsibility, and physical and mental health for the continuity of generations.
