As the primary foundation of domestic life, communication determines the sustainability of the marital bond. A couple's failure to establish effective emotional communication frequently triggers a rift in the relationship, which in practice escalates from simple misunderstandings to fatal conflicts such as infidelity and domestic violence.
This ressearch aims to analyze the facts of the case (duduk perkara) in the Sleman Religious Court Decision Number 1100/Pdt.G/2023/PA.Smn through the principle of mu‘āsyarah bil ma‘rūf and Gary Chapman's Love Language theory to examine conflict dynamics from a more substantive perspective. This analysis dissects the factual narrative contained in the case position by reviewing the couple's interactions through the lens of the five love languages and the standards of good conduct in Islamic family law. The primary focus is directed at how the neglect of psychological needs can undermine domestic stability.
The results of this study conclude that the Love Language theory is highly appropriate for dissecting the case facts in this decision, as it reveals that the primary trigger for the dispute was the Plaintiff's empty "love tank" resulting from the partner's failure to meet specific affection needs. This failure in emotional communication created a psychological distance that led to the escalation of conflict in the form of infidelity and domestic violence. Secondly, the case facts in this decision indicate a neglect of the mu‘āsyarah bil ma‘rūf principle. The couple's inability to understand each other's love language is a form of neglecting the values of good conduct (ma'ruf), thereby resulting in the loss of tranquility (sakinah) within the household. The integration of these two concepts is relevant as an analytical tool to understand the dynamics of marital conflict more comprehensively.</mods:abstract><mods:classification authority="lcc">297.577 Hukum Keluarga Islam, Bimbingan Pernikahan, Poligami, Perceraian, Iddah, Pengasuhan Anak)</mods:classification><mods:originInfo><mods:dateIssued encoding="iso8061">2026-01-30</mods:dateIssued></mods:originInfo><mods:originInfo><mods:publisher>UIN SUNAN KALIJAGA YOGYAKARTA;FAKULTAS SYARIAH DAN HUKUM</mods:publisher></mods:originInfo><mods:genre>Thesis</mods:genre></mods:mods>
