In Islam, the prohibition of sexual relations with animals has been explained in the Prophet’s hadith; however, understanding this prohibition should not only be viewed from a normative religious perspective but also from a health perspective. Therefore, this study aims to examine the hadith concerning the prohibition of sexual intercourse with animals and to understand its correlation within the context of health. This study is a qualitative research based on library research using primary hadith sources (Kutub al-Tis‘ah) as the main data and various scientific literature as secondary data. Data collection techniques were conducted through the methods of takhrij al-hadith and sanad i‘tibar to determine the quality of the hadith, while data analysis employed a descriptive-analytical method using Syuhudi Isma'il’s ma‘anil hadith approach, which includes analysis of matn structure, the function of the Prophet, asbāb al-wurūd, and efforts to understand seemingly contradictory hadiths. The results indicate that the hadith prohibiting sexual relations with animals has a sanad quality that can be used as a legal basis (hujjah) and contains preventive moral messages in maintaining human health. This prohibition is not only related to legal aspects but also relevant to the prevention of zoonotic diseases, avoidance of physical injury and secondary infections, and reduction of cross-species pathogen transmission risks. Furthermore, bestiality behavior can also be categorized as a psychological disorder that affects holistic health, including physical, psychological, social, and spiritual aspects. Thus, the hadith prohibition against sexual relations with animals can be understood as a form of protection for comprehensive human health.
