Limited motor skills may lower children’s self-confidence, increase the risk of despair, so that it can reduce children's motivation to engage in other physical activities. Previous studies have emphasized gross motor development through movement games or dance in general, while studies that specifically discuss the butterfly dance form for children aged 4-5 years are still very limited. The purpose of this study is to determine the appropriate butterfly dance form for children aged 4-5 years and analyze the experience of butterfly dance learning in supporting gross motor development at Amal Insani Kindergarten. The type of research used is qualitative with a descriptive approach, and the research subjects include: the principal, dance teacher, teacher in charge of activities, parents, and group A students. Data were obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed through reduction, presentation, and drawing conclusions with triangulation tests. Butterfly dance is a creative dance taught to children aged 4-5 years in Amal Insani Kindergarten. The characteristics of the dance consist of body movement (wiraga), rhythm (wirama), expression (wirasa), and appearance (wirupa). In the wiraga butterfly dance consists of several forms, including: the shape of the head, hands, body, and feet. The results of the study showed that the butterfly dance movement forms consist of head movements (bowing), hands (flapping wings), body (spinning), and feet (jumping/flying). Dance learning has a positive impact on children's gross motor development, such as: improving children's balance, agility, strength, and muscle flexibility, as well as on children's social-emotional development and self-confidence. date: 2025-09-11 date_type: published pages: 149 institution: UIN SUNAN KALIJAGA YOGYAKARTA department: FAKULTAS ILMU TARBIYAH DAN KEGURUAN thesis_type: skripsi thesis_name: other citation: Anjelina Sondakh, NIM.: 21104030045 (2025) BENTUK TARI KUPU-KUPU UNTUK ANAK USIA 4-5 TAHUN DALAM MENINGKATKAN MOTORIK KASAR DI TK AMAL INSANI SLEMAN YOGYAKARTA.
