This development represents a notable contribution to the historical evolution of Islamic medical traditions while also reflecting a dynamic shift in the interpretation of ruqyah and evolving human engagement with the Quranic text. This study aims to examine this phenomenon from both textual and contextual perspectives, providing an informative and scholarly exposition of its significance. This research adopts a qualitative and library-based approach, seeking to deeply comprehend the ontological and essential aspects of Ruqyah Paper within an Islamic framework. Data were collected through an examination of diverse literature, documentation, and observations both direct and indirect of primary sources such as content from the TikTok account @Quranfi and the website quranfi.com. Additional sources include books, journals, and academic writings. Data analysis integrates Paul Ricoeur’s hermeneutic approach to elucidate the dynamics of textual interpretation, along with Jürgen Habermas’s critical theory to uncover the social and ideological dimensions underpinning the practice. Through this methodology, the study endeavors to reveal the meanings, values, and realities that inform the existence and development of Ruqyah Paper within contemporary religious and social contexts. The findings indicate that the phenomenon of Ruqyah Paper results from a prolonged process of symbolic transformation and textual distanciation of the Quran beginning from its status as sacred divine revelation and evolving into a material object consumed practically in the modern era. Drawing on Paul Ricoeur’s hermeneutic theory, this trajectory reflects a three-stage mimetic shift: from the spiritual praxis of the Prophet, to textual codification by early Islamic scholars, to the mystification of letters within Sufi traditions, culminating in the commodification of the text by Quranfi a process that signifies textual autonomy and the emergence of new meanings beyond the author’s original intent. Within Jürgen Habermas’s framework of communicative action, Ruqyah Paper also reveals dynamics of an asymmetrically structured public sphere, wherein religious discourse is commodified and market-driven, shifting rational-dialogical practice toward symbolic consumption.
