      "abstract": "This research examines Soekarno Islamic thought and nationalism in the\r\nformation and development of the Indonesian State from 1926-1965 AD. This\r\nresearch is based on three problem formulations, including: Soekarno sociopolitical\r\nbackground; Soekarno political role and his ideas about Islam and\r\nNationalism; and Soekarno thoughts on Islam and Nationalism and their\r\nimplications for the formation and development of the Indonesian State during\r\nindependence. This research aims to analyze Soekarno Islamic thought and\r\nnationalism which had an impact on his decisions and policies while he was\r\nPresident of Indonesia.\r\nThis intellectual history research uses qualitative methods with a political\r\napproach. This research uses Islamic political theory, nationalism and democracy.\r\nThis research uses a historical research method with four stages: heuristics based\r\non primary and secondary sources, source verification based on internal and\r\nexternal criticism, interpretation carried out by analyzing historical facts from\r\nvarious sources with the theories and approaches used, and historiography carried\r\nout thematically and chronologically.\r\nThe results of this research show that Soekarno Islamic thought and\r\nnationalism had implications for the formation and development of the Indonesian\r\nstate. The relationship between Soekarno thoughts can be seen in the establishment\r\nof the state's foundations which link Islam and Nationalism in Pancasila. Apart from\r\nthat, this relationship can also be seen in the formation of the identity of the\r\nIndonesian state, namely pluralism, multiculturalism and diversity. The\r\nimplications can also be seen in the development of democracy in Indonesia, in the\r\nform of Soekarno policies towards Muslims in parliamentary democracy and\r\nguided democracy. The next research that can be studied is the genealogy of\r\nSoekarno liberal Islamic thought and its impact in the process of establishing the\r\nfoundations of the Indonesian state.",
