Non-equivalence can appear at various linguistic levels, depending on the complexity of translation. Certain reduplication of SL may contain specific cultural contexts that are difficult to convey thoroughly in TL. Thus, this research aimed to analyse the translation equivalence of Bahasa Indonesia reduplication into English. This study is a qualitative descriptive study. The data were collected from novels entitled Negeri 5 Menara (2009) and its translation by Kilbane (2013). The researcher used a purposive sampling method which 12 chapters were taken from 46 chapters of the novel. The researcher found 505 data translated into words and phrases performing full, partial, multiple, and zero equivalence. The major occurrences were partial and multiple equivalence. The researcher also found two cases of zero equivalence that led to lexical interference. The researcher also identified five translation strategies employed by the translator to maintain the meaning in TL. The most frequent strategy used was the paraphrase using related words. From all these findings, it can be concluded that translation strategies play a crucial role in maintaining meaning when dealing with reduplication. The study highlights the challenges of preserving both linguistic structure and cultural nuances, emphasizing the need for adaptive translation techniques to achieve equivalence. Suggestion for further studies could examine a broader range of literary texts to determine whether similar translation patterns and challenges occur across different genres, such as poetry, folklore, or academic writing.</mods:abstract><mods:classification authority="lcc">418.02 Translating and Interpreting/Terjemahan dan Penafsiran Bahasa</mods:classification><mods:originInfo><mods:dateIssued encoding="iso8061">2025-02-26</mods:dateIssued></mods:originInfo><mods:originInfo><mods:publisher>UIN SUNAN KALIJAGA YOGYAKARTA;FAKULTAS ADAB DAN ILMU BUDAYA</mods:publisher></mods:originInfo><mods:genre>Thesis</mods:genre></mets:xmlData></mets:mdWrap></mets:dmdSec><mets:amdSec ID="TMD_eprint_76223"><mets:rightsMD ID="rights_eprint_76223_mods"><mets:mdWrap MDTYPE="MODS"><mets:xmlData><mods:useAndReproduction>
