This study aims to determine the views and attitudes of village clerics in Gunungkidul Regency regarding the provisions contained in the circular letter, given that village clerics play an important role as role models and sources of reference in resolving religious issues in the community. Therefore, the views and attitudes of village clerics are likely to have an impact on the level of community acceptance of the regulations on marriage during the wife's idah period as outlined in the Circular Letter of the Director General of Islamic Community Guidance Number: P-005/DJ/Hk.00.7/10/2021. This research is field research. The data for this research was obtained through direct interviews with village clerics in Gunungkidul Regency. This research uses a descriptive analytical method with a legal-empirical approach. Sampling in this research used the cluster sampling technique. The theories used as analytical tools in this research are the legal theory of the Compilation of Islamic Law Articles 41-42 and the social history theory of Islamic legal thought. The results of the study show that the views of village clerics can be divided into two types: responsive and resistant. Of the 12 village clerics in Gunungkidul Regency who were interviewed, 11 were classified as responsive because they agreed with the provisions of syibhul 'iddah for men in the circular letter based on various reasons. Meanwhile, one village cleric fell into the resistant typology because he expressed disagreement and tended to object because the provision did not have clear urgency, there were no explicit arguments regulating it, and the social reality of the community was still lacking in understanding of religious knowledge. From a juridical approach, the views of the responsive village clerics are in accordance with the applicable regulations, namely Articles 41 and 42 of the Compilation of Islamic Law, while the views of the resistant village clerics are not in accordance. From the perspective of the social history theory of Islamic legal thought, the factors that influence the views of village clerics are the surrounding socio-cultural conditions and their educational backgrounds. Meanwhile, the economic and political conditions surrounding the village clerics do not have a significant influence. %Z Dr. Siti Muna Hayati, S.H.I., M.H.I.
