N2  - This study analyzes how Detik.com constructs the news discourse surrounding the sexual violence case committed by Ahmad Labib, a boarding school headmaster in Magelang, against four female students. The study employs a qualitative approach using Teun A. van Dijk?s Critical Discourse Analysis model, which encompasses three dimensions: text structure, social cognition, and social context. The research data consists of five news articles published by Detikjateng during August 2024 and April 2025. The findings reveal that the discourse constructed by Detik.com centers on formal legal procedures and positions state institutions as the core of the reporting. In the text structure dimension, the lead of every news article always opens with the actions of law enforcement officials as the active subject; sources are dominated by police, prosecutors, and judges; victims are never quoted directly, even anonymously; and the name of the Islamic boarding school is never mentioned, thereby shielding the institution from public accountability. There was also a gradual shift in terminology regarding the perpetrator, from the initials ?AL? to the permanent label ?Labib, the Student Molester.? In the dimension of social cognition, Detik.com?s real-time journalism ideology shapes the mental framework of journalists, defining sexual violence solely through state procedures. The mechanical application of victim identity protection results in the symbolic erasure of the victim from the narrative as a subject possessing a voice and agency In the social context, unequal access to discourse positions legal institutions as the dominant force in shaping the narrative. The study concludes that Detik.com?s coverage successfully monitored the legal process and protected the victims? privacy, yet reproduced three structural inequalities: victims are portrayed as voiceless statistics, Islamic boarding schools are shielded from public accountability, and justice is narrowed down to merely punishing perpetrators without addressing victim recovery.
