Adolescents who have high life satisfaction tend to be more resilient, have a positive self-concept, are able to establish healthy social relationships, and demonstrate adaptive motivation and behavior in facing life's challenges. Adolescents who live in orphanages have different life dynamics compared to adolescents who grow up in nuclear families. This can pose its own challenges in forming their life satisfaction. This study aims to describe the process of forming life satisfaction in adolescents living in orphanages and its supporting factors. This is a qualitative study using a phenomenological approach that refers to the descriptive phenomenology model. Data collection techniques used are observation, interviews, and documentation. The subject in this study was a 16-year-old adolescent with the initials JN who has lived in the Amanah Al-Maauun Orphanage in Trimulyo Village, Jetis District, Bantul Regency for almost two years. The results of the study indicate that the process of forming the subject's life satisfaction takes place through three main stages, namely: (1) determining personal standards regarding the ideal life; (2) cognitive evaluation of the current living conditions; and (3) the results of the comparison between personal standards and cognitive evaluations that produce subjective assessments of life satisfaction. Although there is a discrepancy between ideal living standards and actual conditions, the subjects still show a fairly good level of life satisfaction.
