Children still tend to depend on teacher directions, lack confidence in making decisions, and are not yet accustomed to exploring ideas and solving problems independently. Creativity and independence are important competencies that need to be developed from an early age as preparation for facing the challenges of the 21st century. The STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) approach in considered one of the relevant approaches because it provides active, exploratory, and child-centered learning experiences. However, most studies on STEAM still focus more on creativity, while studies that connect creativity and independence are still limited. Therefore, sthis study aims to analyze the implementation of the STEAM approach in developing children’s creativity and independence at TK Aisyiyah Nyai Ahmad Dahlan Fullday Yogyakarta.
This study used a qualitative method with a descriptive analytical approach. The research subjects consisted of the assistant teacher of class B Isa and children aged 5-6 years. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data vailidity was tested using source triangulation, while data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the STEAM approach was implemented through exploratory activities using loose parts and creative projects. These learning activities were able to stimulate children’s creativity through their ability to generate ideas and develop their work independently. Children’s independence also developed through their courage in making decisions and taking responsibility for the activities carried out. The implication of this study shows that the STEAM approach can be an effective learning strategy in developing creativity and independence in early childhood.</mods:abstract><mods:classification authority="lcc">371.36 Metode Pengajaran, Metode Pembelajaran</mods:classification><mods:originInfo><mods:dateIssued encoding="iso8061">2026-03-30</mods:dateIssued></mods:originInfo><mods:originInfo><mods:publisher>UIN SUNAN KALIJAGA YOGYAKARTA;FAKULTAS ILMU TARBIYAH DAN KEGURUAN</mods:publisher></mods:originInfo><mods:genre>Thesis</mods:genre></mets:xmlData></mets:mdWrap></mets:dmdSec><mets:amdSec ID="TMD_eprint_76396"><mets:rightsMD ID="rights_eprint_76396_mods"><mets:mdWrap MDTYPE="MODS"><mets:xmlData><mods:useAndReproduction>
