      "abstract": "This study examines the determinants shaping culinary street\r\nvendors‘ Pedagang Kaki Lima (PKL) intention to adopt halal\r\ncertification in the Special Region of Yogyakarta by integrating\r\nthe Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) and Institutional Theory,\r\nwith compliance positioned as a mediating variable linking\r\ninternal and external drivers to halal certification intention.\r\nUsing a quantitative approach, primary data were collected\r\nthrough a Likert-scale questionnaire administered in\r\nNovember–December 2025 to 300 respondents selected via\r\npurposive sampling from culinary PKL, main meals, beverages,\r\nsnacks, and fresh food products who had not yet obtained halal\r\ncertification. The data were analyzed using PLS-SEM\r\n(SmartPLS) to test both direct and indirect effects among the\r\nstudy variables. The results indicate that attitude and knowledge\r\nhave significant positive effects on halal certification intention,\r\nwhereas subjective norms and regulation do not demonstrate\r\nsignificant direct effects. However, compliance shows a\r\nsignificant negative effect on intention and is confirmed to\r\nmediate the effects of attitude and knowledge on intention,\r\nwhile it does not mediate the pathways from subjective norms\r\nand regulation.",
