This tradition is performed when a baby is born, especially when the baby's umbilical cord has been cut. The existence of this tradition is influenced by several factors, namely as a form of protection for the baby from disturbances by creatures, as well as a form of expression of gratitude from the community to God for the birth of the baby. This tradition became widely known when Islam entered the community. This tradition also brings together local beliefs and religious values. There are many series of preparations for the pedak api tradition that not only involve humans, but also nature and the Qur'an. This study uses a qualitative approach with the living Qur'an method. Herbert Blumer's symbolic interactionism theory Blumer is used as an analytical framework to understand the process of meaning formation symbolized in tradition. Data collection techniques include observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving belian (traditional healers), Tuan Guru, and the community involved directly or indirectly in Jembatan Kembar Timur Village. Data analysis was carried out through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing while maintaining data validity through source triangulation. In this tradition itself, it briefly means extinguishing the fire as a sign of the validity of a name given to a baby, and using Surah al-Hashr verse 24 as the primary basis for the existence of the tradition. Additionally, several other verses are used to enhance the value of the traditional procession. Among them are Surah al-Ikhlās, al-Falaq, an-Nās, al-Fātihah, al-Baqarah, and concluded with the Ayat al-Kursi. The presence of the Qur’an in the fire extinguishing tradition cannot be separated, as the Qur’an also accompanies the course of the tradition. The results of the research show that the ritual practice of the pedak api tradition was born from a long and periodic process of social interaction within the community. In the practice of this tradition itself, the Qur'an does not only function as a text to be read. However, the Qur'an plays a primary role in the existence of traditions that have undergone a shift in their original meaning. The Qur'an itself provides colorful meaning and gives religious legitimacy to traditions, thereby adding value in the dimension of sacredness.
