Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY), where relatively high levels of education do
not always correspond to adequate family awareness and understanding of
nutrition, parenting, and sanitation, particularly during the first 1,000 days of life.
In this context, BKKBN DIY plays a strategic role in addressing stunting through
communication-based interventions. This study aims to analyze the communication
strategy implemented through the Foster Parent Movement to Prevent Stunting
(GENTING) program in improving the understanding and awareness of families at
risk of stunting. This study employed a descriptive qualitative method with data
collected through interviews, observation, and documentation. The research
subjects included the Permas team, family assistance team (TPK) coordinators, and
program beneficiaries. The findings show that the communication strategy refers to
the model proposed by Philip Lesly, which includes stages of analysis, policy
formulation, program implementation, and evaluation. The strategy involves
identifying at-risk families, recruiting foster parents, conducting counseling and
assistance, and evaluating responses and behavioral changes. In conclusion, the
communication strategy in the GENTING program has improved the understanding
and awareness of families at risk of stunting in DIY. However, behavioral change
requires continuous efforts, supported by the involvement of foster parents as a form
of social support.</mods:abstract><mods:classification authority="lcc">302.23 Komunikasi Massa</mods:classification><mods:originInfo><mods:dateIssued encoding="iso8061">2026-04-14</mods:dateIssued></mods:originInfo><mods:originInfo><mods:publisher>UIN SUNAN KALIJAGA YOGYAKARTA;FAKULTAS ILMU SOSIAL DAN HUMANIORA</mods:publisher></mods:originInfo><mods:genre>Thesis</mods:genre></mods:mods>
