N2  - Halal awareness is an essential aspect for Muslim consumers, not only from a religious perspective but also in terms of quality, hygiene, and product safety. University students, as the young Muslim generation, play a strategic role in shaping halal consumption trends. This study investigates the level of halal awareness among students at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta and compares it between students of Religious Sciences and General Sciences faculties. Drawing upon theories of consumer behavior and halal awareness?which encompass knowledge, attitude, and behavior?this research adopts a quantitative comparative approach. Data were collected from 155 active students who had visited the campus Halal Food Court, using a validated Likert-scale questionnaire. Descriptive analysis indicated that students generally exhibited a high level of halal awareness (mean = 98.96, SD = 9.60). Independent samples t-test results revealed no significant difference in halal awareness between the two faculties (p = 0.472), suggesting that academic background does not significantly affect halal awareness. Dimension analysis showed that attitude is the most dominant dimension in both faculty groups, followed by knowledge, with behavior scoring lowest?highlighting a gap between awareness and actual practice. This research contributes theoretically by enriching the literature on halal awareness among students with varied educational backgrounds and practically by providing recommendations for developing effective, cross-disciplinary halal education strategies and campus policies to strengthen halal literacy.
