Nevertheless, the rising divorce rates in Indonesia highlight the fragility of marital relationships. Within the Javanese cultural context, belief in weton remains influential in marital decision-making, while emotional maturity is widely recognized in psychology as a key determinant in conflict management and relationship maintenance. This study investigates the relationship between belief in weton and emotional maturity with family harmony among Javanese couples who married based on weton calculations. Employing a quantitative correlational design, data were collected from 102 participants selected via quota sampling. Instruments included a modified Superstitious Belief Scale (SBS), an Emotional Maturity Scale, and an adapted Family Harmony Scale (FHS-24), all validated for reliability and construct validity. Multiple linear regression analysis revealed that, collectively, the two predictors significantly correlated with family harmony (F(2,99) = 31.100, p < 0.001, R² = 0.386). However, partial analysis indicated no significant relationship for belief in weton (p = 0.207), whereas emotional maturity exhibited a significant positive association (p < 0.001). These findings underscore that emotional maturity exerts a stronger influence than cultural beliefs in fostering harmonious family relationships.
