Bina Siwi Oerphanage as a Child Social Welfare Institution (LKSA) not only plays a role in fulfilling basic needs, but also in developing vocational skills as a flagship program, especially for children with intellectual disabilities. This study aims to describe the process of fostering interest in vocatinal skills in children with mental retardation, as well as the supporting and inhibiting factors that influence the process. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data collection techniques are carried out through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, with informants selected using purposive techniques. The results show that the process of fostering interest in vocatinal skills in children with intellectual disabilities at the Bina Siwi Orphanage is carried out through three stages, namely the initial stage of skill introduction, the mentoring stage, and the stage of strengthening interest in vocational skills. The initial stage is carried out through the method of watching while learning, the mentoring stage is carried out through the involvement of professional trainers and mentors or inspiration. The next stage of strengthening interes tis carried out through providing appreciation and space for exploration. This process involves cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects that are interrelated and integrated. Supporting factors in this process include internal and externalَ factors.َ Internalَ factorsَ include:َ 1)َ theَ child’sَ willingness, 2) active involvement and attention, and 3) feelings of happines. External factor include: 1) the orphanage’sَ flagshipَ programs,َ 2) support and motivation from caregivers, 3) a conducive environment, and 4) availabity of tools and materials.
