At this stage, individuals are in a period of identity and relational exploration and begin to face decisions related to long-term commitment in romantic relationships. Therefore, this study aimed to examine the role of family functioning as a mediator in the relationship between father involvement and marital readiness. This study employed a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The sample consisted of 283 emerging adults aged 19–29 years, unmarried, and residing in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. Data were collected using the Father Involvement Scale, the Family Assessment Device (FAD) Indonesian adaptation version, and the Marital Readiness Scale. Data analysis was conducted using regression analysis and mediation analysis (medmod) through Jamovi version 2.6.44. The results showed that father involvement had a positive and significant relationship with marital readiness (sig. < 0.001) and family functioning (sig. < 0.001). In addition, the relationship between family functioning and marital readiness was also significant (sig. < 0.001). However, in the mediation analysis, the indirect effect of father involvement on marital readiness through family functioning was not significant (sig. = 0.719), indicating that no mediation effect was found.
